Week 1, Learning 3DS Max

Learning 3DS Max

Week 1 - Basic's of 3D's Max

For the first week of my self-directed study I only had one thing to do. That was to work with the 3ds max program and familiarize myself with the buttons and layout. This was a good idea because I'm use to working with Maya. The the control's in 3Ds Max are very similar to Maya but at the same time very different. I focused my time leaning the move, rotate, scale tools . I was also worked on importing objects and creating them. I am preparing for next week where I will have all my own scenes and assets.

Creating object is pretty easy in 3Ds max. Getting use to changing the shape of the object is the only thing that seems to be different in 3Ds Max so far. This is a a new program that I know nothing about. I hope this isn't going to be a challenge for me to chose as my self directed study. 3Ds Max seem's like Maya a lot, Only difference is I find the location of all your tools. "To make anything to look good, we first need to build a good foundation"  The first two videos from Freddie W and Brandon L were great at showing this and explaining the basics. This gave me great foundation for any project about to start.

Next weeks Blog is about choosing a locations
